Hi Basrev! Our little band Houndstooth has 4 members: My name’s Glo & I’m the singer & keyboard player, Marco is our lead guitarist (fun fact: we’re siblings!) , we have our bassist Johnny, and last but not least our drummer Natt.
Hi! Introduce each band member and what they play!

I would say what makes our band so unique is definitely the inspiration we pull our music from. Each of us has such a diverse music taste, and we bring all those genres together to create a sound we can’t really label as “one” genre. It’s hard to pick one distinct sound, we love to experiment. I would also say our live performances contribute to our uniqueness as well. We love to play with themes, and I pull a lot of inspiration from burlesque performers/ female artists that love to incorporate dramatic movements/props & crowd interaction in their performances.
Tell us what makes your band so unique.

Honestly, our name was the hardest part to come up with for us. My brother and I have a hound dog, and we wanted to incorporate him into our name somehow. We were all discussing one day, and he just shouted out “Houndstooth.” It wasn’t gonna be permanent and was more so just a placeholder until we found our “actual name,” but it ended up sticking for us. Plus, it’s a cool pattern, and we love to play on the words “hound” & “tooth” when it comes to our visuals & art.
How did you come up with your name?

Something we want our supporters to know is : we thank anyone who gives our music a chance and takes the time to give us a listen or comes to our shows. We have such a big foundation of support from our family & friends that just so happen to be our #1 supporters too. We love you all so much.
Is there anything specific you’d like your supporters to know?
What are 3 goals you have for the band?
3 goals I’d say we collectively have are: performing in bigger venues to eventually be able to donate $1000+ worth of funds to organizations we support, writing an album/EP together, and getting our music to reach a bigger audience.

Personally, my favorite song to perform live is our song “WDIRLL? ” It stands for What do I Really Look Like? Lyrically, it’s about body dysmorphia, but the instrumentals are definitely my favorite part. It has a western/surf sound to i,t and I usually use a prop and dramatize my movements while performing it.
What is your favorite song to perform live?
Tell us about the creative process behind your first single, “Drunk Eyes”.
Our first single “DRUNK EYES” was something that came pretty organically to us. Our bassist at the time shared a bass line, our guitarist & drummer built on it & I had an old poem I had written about alcoholism that I pulled the lyrics from. Instrumentally , we wanted the song to follow the tumultuous experience of drinking. The song starts super upbeat and fast paced then it slows into half time and progressively becomes more disorderly & chaotic.

As for our band, we have a new single coming out this summer called “The Void” it’ll be available on all streaming services. We have 2 shows the month of July for Hoopla Fest in Murrieta & of course The South Hall Saints show in Pomona! We’re also planning on releasing a music video for “DRUNK EYES” before the year is over! Thank you for having us, Stay Tooth!
